Thomas, Donald A. of Bay City and Florida, died Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Winter Village Assisted Living in Frankenmuth.
Thomas was born in Bay City, Michigan on June 21, 1927, the son of Arthur Porter and Bernice May (Cook) Thomas. He married Eleanor Hoffman on September 4, 1952. She preceded him in death on September 27, 2007.
Thomas proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Nabisco as a Sales Representative after over 30 years. After retirement, Don and Eleanor moved to Lakeland, Florida. Don enjoyed hunting, boating and scuba diving. He was an avid reader, enjoyed computer work, and loved animals. Don also enjoyed tinkering with cars and going to classic car and boat shows. He loved people, making them laugh and laughing himself. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He and Eleanor enjoyed traveling and partying with friends and family. Don was a good cook and enjoyed a good meal and drinks with friends. He also enjoyed the beauty of nature and meeting new people. He was very curious about life in general. He had a generous nature and loved his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandy and husband Larry Crandell; son-in-law, Larry Gregory; grandchildren, Joshua Thomas (Junyan) Crandell, Drew Adam (Janna) Crandell, Elizabeth Eleanor (Dan Doelker) Gregory; and great-granddaughter, Claire Ding Crandell. Donald was also preceded in death by his daughter Nancy Elizabeth Gregory.
