Janet was born in Flint, MI on February 24, 1952, daughter of the late Virgil and Agnes (Amidon) Avery. She was a graduate of Davison High School Class of 1969. After graduation, Janet embarked on a career with General Motors Truck and Bus, where she dedicated 12 years of her life. For 20 years, she served as a dedicated janitorial staff member at Atlas Valley Country Club, where her diligent work ethic and attention to detail left an indelible mark on the club's environment and the people she interacted with. Following her tenure at Atlas Valley Country Club, Janet spent 12 years working for her brother, Tony, at Handyman Hot Dogs. Outside of her work, Janet found joy in various interests. She was an avid gardener, with a particular fondness for nurturing tomatoes. Her green thumb and passion for plants were evident in the beauty she cultivated. In addition to her gardening pursuits, Janet lent her voice to the choirs at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Burton, MI, and Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Flint, MI, where her harmonious contributions added to the spiritual experience of many. In 2012, Janet became a valued member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, further embedding herself in the community she held dear. Janet's commitment to her community extended beyond the walls of the church. For 17 years, she served as an election inspector for the City of Burton, ensuring the integrity of the democratic process. Janet's affection for animals, particularly dogs and cats, was evident to all who knew her. Her compassion and love extended to her furry companions, who were undoubtedly fortunate to have her as their caregiver.

Janet is survived by her 3 siblings, Virgil Ervin (Dawn Ur) Avery, Jr., Deanna (Mark Bontumasi) (Avery) Phelps and Anthony “Tony” Avery; 5 nieces, Nicole Avery, Celestia (Joshua Pringle) Avery-Nichols, Jessica (Justin) Buchler, Chelsea (Shane Wilmo) Avery and Casey (Kenny) Simpson; 2 nephews, Gil Matt (Rachelle) Avery and Jason (Jolene Back-Avery) Avery; many other loving family members and dear friends.
