CLOR, Matthew Gerald "Matt"- age 62, of Fenton, formerly of Davison, passed away suddenly on September 18, 2026, at his residence in Caseville. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 24, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Visitation 12:00 PM -8:00 PM Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton where a Time for Sharing Memories will begin at 6:30 pm followed by a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM at church. Memorial contributions in Matt's memory would be appreciated to St. Jude Children's Hospital or The Ronald McDonald House of your choice.
Matthew was born September 9, 1964, in Flint, the son of Gerald Anthony and Priscilla Mae (Baksa) Clor. On June 20, 1992, he married the love of his life, Sharon Fry. Matt graduated from Flint Holy Rosary High School in 1982, and later attended U of M Flint. As a man of faith, he belonged to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Davison and later, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Fenton. He was also a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Matt was one of those people who was simply impossible to forget. He had a big personality and even bigger heart. He was “the light of the room” who could talk to just about anyone. He never seemed to meet a stranger, and wherever Matt went, he was likely to make a new friend. He had a way of making people feel welcome, his detailed stories, humor, and unique perspective of the world will be deeply missed.
Matt was also incredibly curious and creative. He truly could do almost anything. He was a master woodworker, licensed contractor, and was always figuring out how something worked-or how he could make it better. He was literally the family’s own “Jack of all Trades” and, as many of us would agree, a little bit of a “Mad Scientist.” If Matt had an idea, he didn’t just talk about it. He wanted to build it, fix it, improve it, or see if it could be done. That same determination was part of who he was as a businessman. After working in sales in industrial distribution sales for the majority of his career, Matt took the leap of faith and started Superior Powder Coating in 2016. He and his business partner Ivan, built the company with their integrity, hard work, persistence, and determination. He was proud of what they accomplished.
As much as Matt loved working with his hands and solving problems, the things he loved most were his family and the adventures they shared. He loved boating, fishing, hunting, and being on the water with family and friends. He loved being outside and especially being with the people he loved. His involvement with the A.G.L.C.A. (America’s Great Loopers Cruiser’s Association) reflected that adventurous side of him. Matt wasn’t someone who wanted to simply sit on the sidelines and watch life happen. He wanted to experience it, and share those experiences with those he loved, his family.
Matt was a wonderful father to Tony, Jennifer, and Samantha. He was so proud of each of them and the families they each created. Becoming a grandfather gave him another reason to smile. McKinley, Truman, Tyler, Brooks, and Leonora were incredibly special to him. He treasured being Grampy and the memories he made with each of them.
He had a lot of different roles throughout his life, but underneath all of them was simply Matt – the man we knew and loved.
Matt is survived by his wife, Sharon ; son, Anthony (Amanda) Clor; daughters, Jennifer (Matt) Belt, and Samantha (Austin) Stoutenburg; grandchildren, McKinley, Truman, and Tyler Clor; Brooks Belt, and Leonora Stoutenburg; siblings, Rodney (Martha) Clor, Darren (Becky) Clor, and Amy (Brian) Kirk; mother-in-law, Janet Fry; and many nieces and nephews.
Matt was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald (Jerry) and Priscilla (Pat) Clor, and his father-in-law, Kenneth Fry. Online tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
