Todd was born in Flint, MI on February 9, 1963, son of the late Harvey and Sandra (Liquia) Furze. Todd, a proud graduate of Flint Central High School’s Class of 1981, lived a life defined by adventure, generosity, and a deep love for the outdoors. As a young boy, Todd began his future in hockey through Greater Flint Hockey Association (GFHA), with his dad as his coach, and then continued throughout his four years of high school. He poured his heart into playing for the Flint Central High School hockey team (#17) — where he formed lifelong friendships and learned the value of teamwork and determination. His parents and siblings were his biggest fans. From the roar of motocross tracks to quiet mornings spent fishing or hunting, Todd felt most at home under the open sky. His work life was equally diverse and spirited. He spent many dedicated years as a skilled meat cutter for Meijer and later embraced the rugged challenges of working on oil rigs out West in Kansas, where his strong work ethic and steady presence earned him deep respect. Some of Todd’s fondest memories—and the ones cherished most by those who knew him—were made “Up North” on Secord Lake. There, he was always the first one awake, making sure every kid was up early and ready to go tubing. His mission was simple: make sure everyone was having fun. And he did. Todd had a way of bringing laughter, excitement, and light everywhere he went. A man with a story for everything, Todd’s adventurous spirit was matched only by his generous heart. He made it a point to ensure every child had a Christmas, offering help quietly and without hesitation. His kindness left a mark that will continue to ripple through the lives he touched. Todd lived boldly, loved deeply, and gave freely. His absence will be felt by all who knew him, but his stories, his laughter, and the joy he sparked will forever remain a part of the people who were fortunate enough to call him family or friend. May he rest peacefully, and may his spirit continue to guide those who loved him most.
Todd is survived by his partner, Dee Dietz; daughter, Samantha (Jacob) Daniels; 2 siblings, Amy (Bob) Trego and Beth (Esther) Furze; 5 grandchildren, Daniel, Elijah, Benjamin and Josephine Daniels, and Kisha Nicole; 2 nephews, Tyler (Karina) Furze and Jake (Maddy) Gray; niece, Kailey (Austin) Hetzer; great-niece, Ava Hetzer; great-nephew, Jack Harvey Hetzer; loving friends that were more like family members, Dustin, Justin and Violet; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Sandra Furze; sister, Dawn Furze; uncle, Bud Furze; brother-in-law, Duane Pierson and canine companion, Koby.
