WALSH, Diane M. (Hatlestad) – of Davison, age 95, passed away Monday, December 25, 2023 at home, surrounded by her loving family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 PM Friday, December 29, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Burial will immediately follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 4-7 PM on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 6 PM on Thursday, under the auspices of the Daughters of Isabella. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, in Diane’s memory.

Diane was born on November 24, 1928, in Flint, MI, to the late Carol and Gabrielle (Foisy) Hatlestad. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Walsh, whom she married on April 11, 1959, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Flint. Edward passed away on August 26, 1998. Diane attended many Flint area schools before graduating second in her class from Davison High School in 1946. She furthered her education at Michigan State Normal College (now Eastern Michigan University), where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority and earned her degree in 1951. Before marrying Edward, she worked as the office manager for Skaff Furniture in Flint, MI. After her children were grown, Diane dedicated 17 years of her professional life as a medical transcriptionist to the St. Joseph Oncology Center, where she touched the lives of many. A devout member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Diane actively participated in the Legion of Mary, Daughters of Isabella and St. Patrick's Guild. She was also an active member of St. Patrick’s Church in Mt. Dora, Florida, her winter home for over 20 years. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing solace to those around her. Her care, intelligence, wit, and unwavering love left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her, especially her children and grandchildren.

Diane is survived by her loving children, Anna Walsh of Ann Arbor, MI, Loretta Walsh of Lindstrom, MN, Cheryl (Bruce Hart) Walsh of Iowa City, IA, Julia (Bruce) Zitkovic of Findlay, OH, and Patrick (Kathy) Walsh of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Zachary Zitkovic, Hollyann Zitkovic, Tatum Walsh and Quinn Walsh; brother-in-law, Jack Fortin; and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by sister, Carolyn Fortin; and granddaughter, Magdalene Zitkovic.
