RICHARDSON, Dorothy W. “Sally” (Johnson) – of Davison, MI, age 87, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Charter Senior Living of Davison. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Saturday, August 21, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Davison, 208 E. Fourth St., Davison, MI 48423; Reverend Chris Radcliffe officiating. Visitation will be from 2-7 PM Friday, August 20, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Saturday at church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries, in Sally's name.
Sally was born in Chattanooga, TN on January 9, 1934, daughter of the late James and Minnie (Cross) Johnson. She was lovingly raised by Minnie and Joseph Munn. Sally married the love of her life, Virgil Richardson, on May 23, 1953. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2015.
Sally was a woman blessed with many talents and gifts which were exercised to the fullest throughout her life. She had a true servant’s heart and cared deeply about others. She impacted the lives of hundreds of people over the years. Her home was continually bustling with family, friends, and neighbors, most often enjoying a home-cooked meal or Bible Study. She was an active and faithful member of Atlas Baptist church for over 30 years, serving as choir director, youth leader and Chairman of the Board of Christian Education. She also sang in the Munn Trio with her sister Gloria and her mother Minnie. They traveled the State singing Christian music. She has been a member of Davison First Baptist church for over 40 years. While there she was active in the music ministry, co-led the Singles Ministry with her husband Vic, and led the Care Ministry for many years. Sally was also committed to her community. She is well known for leading the Goodrich Schools Music Parents Association and its annual musical variety show production, which took place for many years. Sally also worked as a postal clerk for 18 years at the Atlas Post Office.
Sally is survived by 4 children, James (Carleen) Richardson, Joseph (Denise) Richardson, Elizabeth Hall (Joel Ross) and Laura (Mark) Jones; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Johnson, Minnie and Joseph Munn; husband, Virgil Richardson; 2 brothers, Donald Trentham and JP Johnson; sister, Ruby Mize; great-granddaughter, Jessica Richardson and great-grandson, Evan Shaffer.
