Ralph C. Schillinger Jr., of Davison, Michigan (formerly of Lake Fenton, Holly, and Highland, Michigan) passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 after a brief illness, at 78 years of age.
Ralph was born the first of six children on July 12, 1943 in Gladwin, Michigan. He spent his childhood in Lake Fenton and graduated from Mandeville High School, Class of 1961. After graduation, Ralph proudly served his country with the US Navy as a Radioman from 1961 to 1964. He went on to work at General Motors, but left to pursue other avenues, including working as an officer for the Holly Police Department, and owning/ operating his own gas and service station in Holly. Eventually, he returned to General Motors where he remained working in various capacities at different locations until his retirement.
While working as a test driver at the GM Milford Proving Grounds, he met his wife, Carol. She was his loving wife and life partner for 36 years until his death.
He enjoyed many hobbies, including HAM Radio, fly fishing, duck hunting, woodworking and photography.
Ralph is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Lynn Schillinger (nee Carle); his children: Lloyd (Maria) Schillinger, Merrilee (Cory) Yax, Andrea (Kristian) Ford, Matthew (Angelina) Schillinger, Michael (Amanda) Felker, and Sandra (Keaton) Stearns; his grandchildren: Maizie Faber, Adam Schillinger, Hayden Yax, Wilson Yax, Emily Schillinger, Michael (Joan) Felker, Rebekka (Scott) Oyen, Oscar Gutierrez, Dwayne Conway, Amanda Conway, and Brianna Hitch; great-grandpa of ten; dear brother of Sandra (John) Wikander, Randall (Nancy) Schillinger, Steven Schillinger, Rebecca Friendly, Shaun (Belinda) Schillinger, and Sandra (Jerry) Becker. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Preceded in death by his parents, Ralph, Sr. and Thelma (nee Easton) Schillinger; his in-laws, Russel and Ruth Carle; and brother-in-law, Rusty Carle.
The family will greet friends from 3:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw, Grand Blanc, Michigan. A celebration of Ralph's life will take place at 2:00pm on Tuesday, September 14 at the above location. Inurnment with Naval Honors will take place at 10:30am on Monday, October 11, 2021 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, Michigan.
