SPALLA, Tom Edward – of Clio, age 72, died Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Ascension Genesys Hospital of Grand Blanc. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Assembly of God church in Clio, Michigan. Pastor Garrett Star officiating. Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Monday, January 18, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Assembly of God Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion Post # 158.
Tom was born June 19, 1948 in Flint, Michigan to the late LeRoy and Betty Lou (Johnson) Spalla. He grew up in Clio, Michigan and graduated from Clio high School with the class of 1968. He served his country in the US Army from 1969 to 1971. On April 24, 1971 he married Linda Cross in Clio, Michigan. Prior to his retirement in 1999, Tom worked for AC Spark Plug – GM as a Fork Lift Driver with 31 ½ years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 158. Tom enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and Tiger’s Baseball. However, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and grandchildren. The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to the staff at MICU at Ascension Genesys Hospital of Grand Blanc.
Surviving are: Wife, Linda Spalla; Daughters, Annette (Michael) Tipton, Tonya (Chris) Coffin; Grandchildren, Michael Burns, Peyton Tipton, Conner Tipton, Camryn Coffin; Siblings, Michael (Kim) Spalla, Ronda Pardee, Kim (Harry) Pounds; Step-Sister, Vickie (Tracey) Scott; Brother in laws, Richard (Shirley) Cross, Larry (Mary) Cross; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Step-Father, Melvin Harnetz; Sister, Glenda White; Step-Brother, Terry Harnetz.
