HAMMEL, Earl Void – of Lapeer, MI, age 73, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Stonegate Health Campus. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. Interment immediately following the service in Meadowview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Monday, October 3, 2022 and 10-11 AM Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Homecare and Hospice, in Earl’s memory.
Earl was born on December 27, 1948, son of the late Leon and Nita (Saxton) Hammel. He was a graduate of Davison High School Class of 1966. Earl married Linda Fuller on May 21, 1988. He retired from General Motors in 2004 after 36 years of service. Earl was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2427 in Lapeer, MI. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, watching sports and spending time with his family.
Earl is survived by his loving wife, Linda Hammel; son, David (Jessica) Hammel; 2 step-children, Theresa (Tim) Schalau and Alan (Tanya) Fuller; 5 grandchildren, Jake, Zach, Trevor, Isaac and Andy; 7 siblings, Judy (Edward) Melenbrink, Art Hammel, Leroy Hammel, Verneta Hammel, Dale Hammel, Karen Chadwick and Shirley Hammel; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Nita Hammel; 2 brothers, Kevin Hammel and William Hammel.
