Raquel (Rachel) Gonzalez, age 44, passed peacefully on November 27th, 2021 at the Oklahoma Heart Institute at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Raquel was born in Flint, Michigan on July 12th, 1977. She was a graduate of Flint Central High School in 1996 and received her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Mott Community College in Flint. Currently, Raquel was attending the University of Oklahoma to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership. Raquel was gifted and loved to work with children. At the age of 16, she began through a co-op with The Learning Community (formerly Fenton Lawn)
in Flint, Michigan where she worked for 15 years. Raquel was currently working at Tulsa Educare II - Hawthorne for the past 9 and a half years where she started as an Associate Teacher and was recently promoted to Compliance Associate.
Besides spending time with her family and friends, Raquel had a passion for softball, wrestling, cooking / grilling, playing games, going to the casino (cno) and traveling. Raquel had a bright and energetic personality and humor that even in the most difficult times would bring a smile to your face. She touched many people with her generosity; always putting others before herself.
Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Emilia Alfaro; sisters Angela Boulton, and Janie Gonzalez; nieces Arriana McConnell-Gonzalez, and Aneica McConnell; nephew Kyle McConnell II; extended family Sheri McCrandall and her daughters, Samantha McCrandall, and Jenna [Kurt] Hoganson and their children; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her Grandma and Grandpa Alfaro; and father, Ramon Gonzalez, Sr.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the Oklahoma Heart Institute at Hillcrest Medical Center for their thoughtful service and tender care. Also, to Tulsa Educare II - Hawthorne for their compassion and the special friendships Raquel held dear.
Visitation 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2021 and 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2021 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Visitation 10 a.m. and Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 2316 Coldwater Road, Flint, Father Paul Donnelly officiating.
