Cynthia “Cindy” Cherveny, born March 21, 1955, passed away on August 20, 2026, at age 71.

Funeral service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Reverend Darrell Ward.

Visitation will be held at 11am on Tuesday until the time of service at the funeral home.

Cindy was the daughter of Charles and Hazel (Miller) Adkins and the devoted wife of Frank Dennis Cherveny. She was a 1973 graduate of Mt. Morris High School. Cindy and Frank were married on February 2, 1974, and shared more than 52 years of marriage, building a life centered around family, love, and countless memories together.

Above all else, Cindy loved her family. She was the proud mother of Shawna, Frank, and Joshua Cherveny, and she cherished her grandchildren, Ryker, Jagger, Cooper, Shealynn, and Bayler Cherveny. Her grandchildren held an especially important place in her heart. Not long ago, Cindy had each of their names, along with a heart, tattooed on her shin- a lasting symbol of just how deeply she loved them.

Cindy was one of the most giving and generous people you could ever meet. If she had $100 in her purse, it wouldn’t be unusual to find her quietly rolling up the twenty-dollar bills and slipping them into the hands of her grandchildren. She found great joy in giving to those she loved, never expecting anything in return. Her generosity was simply part of who she was-a caring woman with a very big heart.

Cindy also had a few favorite things that those closest to her will always associate with her. She loved the color purple and enjoyed watching Yellowstone. She especially loved playing BINGO and could sit at a slot machine for hours, patiently waiting for that lucky spin. These simple joys, along with the many memories she created with her family, will continue to bring smiles to those who knew and loved her.

Cindy is survived by her loving husband, Frank Dennis Cherveny; her sons, Frank (Trisha) Cherveny and Joshua Cherveny; her grandchildren, Ryker, Jagger, Cooper, Shealynn, and Bayler Cherveny; along with other loving family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Shawna Cherveny; her parents, Charles and Hazel Adkins; her brother, Charles Adkins; and her sister, Shirley Adkins Montpas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to LaVigne Home at https://www.lavignehome.org/.

Cindy’s family would like to extend a very special and heartfelt thank-you to everyone at LaVigne Home for the kindness, compassion, and loving care they provided to Cindy.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
