MAROUN, Maroun Said “Sam” - Of Flint, age 87, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at McLaren-Flint.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church, 4133 Calkins Road, Flint, with Father Pierre Bassil officiating.

Burial will follow Mass in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation 3:00pm-8:00pm on Friday, June 3rd at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, with a Rosary at 7:00pm. Visitation also 10:00am Saturday at church until the time of the Mass.

Maroun S. Maroun was born in Flint, Michigan on January 28, 1935, the son of the late Said and Julia (Salem) Maroun.

His first job at the age of 7 was selling newspapers on the street corner. He graduated from All Saints High School class of 1953. He was employed at the Flint water department. He was the Owner of Maroun’s Market.

He was one on the founding Owners of Genesee Valley Gold and Silver until his retirement in 1996. Sam was a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church. Sam’s passion
in life was his family and friends. Sam was a regular volunteer at hospice for many years where he would sit and talk with the patient’s and feed the fish on Wednesday. Sam loved a good joke and loved sharing them with his family and friends. Sam was also an avid card player and enjoyed a good game of euchre. One of Sam’s favorite things to do was having family and friends gather for dinner parties. Sam was an avid cook and
the inventor of the famous Turkey Kibbee . Another one of Sam’ passion was his pennies inscribed with the saying “GOD AND I
HAVE SOMETHING IN COMMON WE BOTH LOVE YOU”. He would pass these out to everyone he met. Sam was a Loving Father and Friend to everyone, he will be dearly missed by all.

Sam is survived by Children, Wendy Maroun, Greg (Debbie)
Maroun, Gary (Jennifer) Maroun, and Jane Maroun;
Grandchildren, Nate Maroun, Jade Perry and MaKenzie Williams; Best Friend, Bill
O’Leary.

Sam was preceded in death by his son, Dougie Maroun; brothers, Louis (Wanda) Maroun, Paul (Evelyn) Maroun and James Maroun; and sisters, Mary (Albert) Sauder and Helen Maroun;

Those desiring may make contributions in Sam’s name to Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church.
