WHITEAKER (CURP), Sondra Sue - Of Fenton, age 82, died Thursday, October 20, 2022 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held 12 Noon Thursday, October 27, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Pastor Peter Ahlersmeyer officiating.
Visitation 5-8pm Wednesday and 11am Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.

Sondra was born in Flint, Michigan on March 26, 1940, the daughter of the late James Curp and Eunice (Saiko) Chamberlain. She married Kenneth Whiteaker II in Honolulu, Hawaii on March 11, 1969 and he preceded her in death on November 25, 2009. Sondra received a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University. She was a former member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed volunteering with the Stephens Ministries, MOPS and funeral dinners. She was currently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She loved listening to Bible study discussions, fishing and playing cards but, her greatest loves were God, her awesome family and friends. Sondra was employed as a legal secretary for Michigan Bell Telephone. She then worked for General Motors as a Consultant for Organization and Employee Development for 25 years before retiring in 1997 following a heart attack and stroke.
Surviving are her sons, Martin and Kenneth III (Amanda);
grandchildren, Andrew (Jin-Won) Whiteaker and Toni Jo (Jason) Vanover;
great-grandchildren, Luke James and Evan Jacob Whiteaker, Helena Ryan Vanover and great-grandson on the way;
half-sister, Donna (Everett) Chapplear;
step-brother, Dennis (Donna) Curp;
step-sisters, Jan (Bob) Heindrichs and Elaine Young;
sister-in-law, Ella Johnson;
goddaughter, Penny Bittinger;
special friends, Peggy Halka and Kathy Schuck;
and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth II, son, Dennis, mother, Eunice Chamberlain, father and mother-in-law, Kenneth Whiteaker and Gladys (Hicks) Whiteaker; step-dad, Roy Chamberlain and aunt, Sarah Stonhouse.
