Dorothy was born in St. Clair Shores, MI on January 31, 1927, daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Jerman) Kidd. On December 29, 1950, she married Eugene Christian, and together they shared a life filled with joy and companionship. Eugene preceded her in death on June 13, 2004, and their enduring love remains a cherished memory for their family and friends. Dorothy retired after 30 years of dedicated service at AC Spark Plug, where she earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues. She was also a founding member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, where her unwavering faith and generosity touched the hearts of many. Later, she became an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where she continued to nurture her spiritual life. A passionate gardener and an artist at heart, Dorothy was known as a "gardener extraordinaire," creating beautiful landscapes that brought joy to all who beheld them. Even at the age of 97, she could still be found riding her beloved John Deere tractor, a testament to her tireless spirit and love of the outdoors. Dorothy was a talented knitter, crafting cozy sweaters and coats that became treasured gifts for family and friends. She also enjoyed quiet moments fishing, finding peace in the serene beauty of nature. Dorothy was known far and wide for her extraordinary fruitcakes, a beloved recipe passed down through generations that became a holiday tradition for many. Her delicious treats were not just a reflection of her culinary talent, but also of the love and care she poured into every dish she made. Her passion for baking brought warmth and joy to her home, and her fruitcakes became a symbol of the kindness and generosity she shared with all. Above all, Dorothy was a family woman. She cherished spending time with her loved ones, always making her family feel valued and supported. Her home was a gathering place filled with laughter, stories, and the warmth of her love. Whether it was a simple family dinner, a holiday celebration, or a quiet afternoon together, Dorothy's presence was a gift that will forever be remembered. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her family. Dorothy's kindness, warmth, and infectious smile touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a way of making people feel special, always offering a listening ear, thoughtful advice, and an open heart.

Dorothy is survived by her 4 loving children, Dorothy (Bill) Daugherty, Dan (Marguerite) Christian, John (Terri) Christian and Brenda (Dennis) Nowlen; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Kidd and Mary Verhaeghe; husband, Eugene Christian and 6 siblings.

The family would like to extend a very sincere thank you to the extraordinary staff at Charter Senior Living Memory Care Unit for their dedication and exceptional care. A special thank you is also extended to Swan Hospice nurse Amanda, whose kindness and compassion brought comfort during Dorothy’s final days. Their support has been a source of great solace to our family.
