LEWIS, Robert Paul – of Davison, MI, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at MediLodge of Montrose. A Funeral Service, with Military Honors, will be held 11 AM Monday, February 14, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Alan Duce officiating. Private interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery on a later date. The family will receive visitors 9:30-11 AM Monday, February 14, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Robert’s memory.
Robert was born at home in Otisville, MI on January 17, 1935, to the late Paul and Elizabeth (Wade) Lewis, the first of six children. He was a graduate of Otisville High School Class of 1953. In June of 1956, Robert joined the U.S. Army completing basic training at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas before going on to Karlsruhe, Germany. He left active-duty service in May of 1958 and went on to serve another 2 years in the U.S. Army Reserve. Robert married Ruth Ann Pettit on August 18, 1956 at Richfield Church of the Nazarene. He worked a short time at Buick and at the Genesee County Road Commission before beginning work at Fisher Body-Turnstedt, retiring in June of 1991. Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially loved his cat, Muffin.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Lewis; 2 daughters, Sharron (Ron) Swantek of Otter Lake, MI and Deborah (Scott) Dungee of Flint, MI; 3 granddaughters, Maria Swantek, Debbi Burgett and Amanda Klamert; 5 great-grandchildren, Lauryn Childs, Colton Frye, Isabel Burgett, Benjamin Burgett and Aubriella Klamert; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Elizabeth Lewis; 2 brothers, Wade Lewis and Charles Lewis; 2 brothers-in-law, Dave Bieszak and Andrew Petitt; 2 nephews, Leslie Pettit and Todd Lewis.
