. Fortino, Rita Marie - Age 92, of Swartz Creek , died December 14, 2021. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday December 21 at St. Mary Queen of Angles Catholic Church, Swartz Creek, Fr. Louis Ekka celebrant. Entombment in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, Flint. Visitation will be 3-7 PM Monday with a rosary at 7 PM, December 20 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, and 10-11 AM Tuesday December 21 at the church.
Rita was born May 13, 1929 in Swartz Creek, the daughter of Paul and Mary (Spaniola) Fortino. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Marygrove College and her Master of Arts Degree from the University of Michigan. Ms. Fortino was an Elementary School Teacher. She taught at Swartz Creek, Flint, East Lansing, and Lansing, almost 20 years at Eisenhower in Flint. She was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church and the Swartz Creek Historical Society. She enjoyed her many Summer travels in North and South America, Africa and Europe. She enjoyed taking pictures and filling albums. Surviving are: brother Lawrence (Helen) Fortino; sister Margaret (Joseph) Stratton; fifteen nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Fortino; brother Robert D. Fortino; great-niece, Elizabeth Fortino; and great-niece, Lauren Stratton.
