Katy Turner – dog-lover, family-hugger, number-cruncher, cancer-warrior – lost her second battle with cancer on January 9, 2022. Katy loved with her whole heart, most especially her family, friends, faith and dogs – not necessarily in that order.
Her daughters, Lisa Gaby & Kellie Hoffman, and grandkids were the light and pride of her life. They knew without a doubt of her unconditional love for them.
Her great-grandkids and close friends were determined not to allow her to become a crotchety old lady – they mostly succeeded! Truly though, she was young at heart and loved getting together to travel, play cards, snow-tube, eat at Applebee’s, play dinosaurs and rub soft baby cheeks.
She never shied away from the opportunity to pet a pooch! The dogs in Katy’s life were numerous. She was preceded in death by her beloved companion Duke, but was sustained by sleepovers with special furry friends Sampi, Joey, Sofi, Lucy and Dolly just to name a few.
Katy’s sense of responsibility and punctuality was second to none, especially as her first career developed at Security Credit Union. Retirement did not suit her, and she found a renewed sense of purpose as bookkeeper at both VisionPointe Assembly of God and Davison Assembly of God, the latter at which she served for over 25 years, and where she made a joyful noise on the praise team.
She left behind friends and family that take comfort in knowing that she is painlessly walking with the Lord.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Friday, January 14th at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road in Flint. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 15th at Davison Assembly of God, 1234 Gale Road, Davison, officiated by Pastor Morris Moos. A memorial visitation will be held at 10am on Saturday at the church until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Davison Assembly of God or the Humane Society of Genesee County.
