BROWNSON, Marshall P. – of Russellville, age 91 passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at his residence. A Funeral Service with Military Honors, under the auspices of Davison VFW Post #4087 will be held 11 AM Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Friday and 10-11 AM Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Genesee County.
Marshall was born in Mt. Morris, MI on June 4, 1926, son of the late Fred and Amy (Marshall) Brownson. He married Joyce Jones on June 9, 1944 in Russellville, MI. Marshall served in the U.S. Army 20th Armored Infantry during WWII in Germany and was a member of the Davison VFW Post #4087. He worked for A.S. Leffler Co. for many years. He and Joyce owned and operated Brownson’s Market in Davison from 1960-1970. He retired from Quality Door & Lumber in 1984. Marshall loved going to flea markets, toy shows and collecting toy semi-trucks. He was written up in Toy Trucker magazine and the Flint Journal about his collection. Marshall never met a stranger and loved having company to show his collection to.
Marshall is survived by his wife of 74 years, Joyce; son, Jack (Paula) Brownson; daughter, Suzanne Hammond; granddaughter, Jeni (Darrell) Westerby; great-grandchildren, Blake Westerby, Madisyn and Aliah Brownson. He was preceded in death by brother, Archie; sisters Wilma, Marie and Gertrude; son-in-law, Don Hammond; grandsons Wade Salgat, Mark and Travis Brownson.
