Passed away on Monday evening, July 30, 2012 at the McLaren Regional Medical Center, Flint. Age 74 years. Marie was born on August 15, 1937 in Owosso to the late William and Mildred ( Sheldon) Hebekeuser. She married Charles Garant on October 18, 1958, he survives her. Marie was a member of the St Michael Catholic Church and sang in the choir. She was also involved in the religious education program.
Marie enjoyed sewing, knitting, making porcelain dolls, china painting and bowling. She was a member of the Red Hats and enjoyed volunteering at Memorial Healthcare Center in Owosso and Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte Florida. Marie and Charles were members of the Michigan Knights of the Highway Motor Home Club since 1981. Surviving besides her husband Charles are 6 children; Mark (Laurene) Garant of Garden City, Matthew (Katy) Garant of New Hudson, Connie (Art) Birchmeier of Flushing, Rhonda (Chris) Hajek of New Lothrop, Lisa Hawk (Mike Vermeersch) of Flushing, Paula (Michael) Milks of New Lothrop; 19 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; sisters and brothers; Helen Wolfrom, Joe Brock, Margaret Hebekeuser, Donald Hebekeuser; sister-in-laws; Pat (Ronald) Wenzlick, Marjorie (Lloyd) Henige, Kathleen (Ronald Gross. She was predeceased by brothers and sisters; Fr. William Hebekeuser, Charles Hebekeuser, Diane Loher and infant brother, Harold; sister-in-law, Fidelis Kline.
The funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday August 2, 2012 at 11:00 am at the St Michael Catholic Church, Maple Grove. Fr. T.J. Fleming will officiate. She will be interred in St Michael Cemetery. Friends may call at the Whelpley-Martin Funeral Home New Lothrop on Wednesday from 1:00 to 8:00 pm. and at church on Thursday after 10:00 am. Scripture service will be held on Wednesday at 7:00 pm. Memorial are suggested to the Chimbote Missions in Peru. www.wmartinfuneralhome.com.
