Kathleen Louise Lienau, age 82, of Chesaning, Michigan, passed away on June 22, 2026, in her home. Kathy was born on March 30, 1944, to LaVearn and Edna (Gasper) Krupp. She resided all of her life in the Chesaning area and was an active member of St. Michael’s Church in Maple Grove.
Kathy married Ernie Brown in 1962, and together they raised six children. Ernie preceded her in death on April 21, 1989. In 1992, she married Roy Lienau, and together they blended their families, creating many cherished memories through family gatherings, celebrations, and special events. Roy passed away on March 30, 2021.
Kathy was employed by Saginaw County Mental Health for 16 years, caring for those with developmental disabilities. She also co-owned and operated a catering business for 25 years. She loved to travel, visiting every state except Hawaii. Many of her travels were shared with her second husband, Roy, and her two sisters. Kathy donated a kidney in 1997 to her stepson. Kathy treasured her weekly card games with her siblings and friends and enjoyed visits to the casino. She loved playing Setback, Dominoes, and Rummikub with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Ernie (Carolyn) Brown, Carmen (Ed) Kviz, Barry Brown, Valerie (Tim) Baker, and Jason (Carrie) Brown. She is also survived by her nine stepchildren: Sonya (Wayne) Martin, Pam (Jerry) Angst, Becky (Mick) Irland, Renee (Lienau) Vincke and Rod Wurtz, Dawn (Jerry) Boucher, Kevin (Sheila) Lienau, Randy (Cammie) Lienau, Tracy (Ted) Birchmeier, and Greg (Theresa) Lienau.
Kathy is further survived by her 40 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren expected in the near future. She is also survived by her brothers, Bill (Diane) Krupp, Ed (Kay) Krupp, Tim(Jane) Krupp, and Ken (Barb) Krupp; her sisters, Ann Dotson and Linda Krupp; and her sister-in-law, Donna (Jack) Hopkins. In addition, there are many members of the Harold and Carolyn Schnieder family, living and deceased.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Aaron Brown; her brother, Dan (Patricia) Krupp; her sisters-in-law, Marie Krupp and Margaret Krupp; brother-in-law Joe Dotson; her parents-in-law, Fred and Eleanor Lienau; Ed and Jean Lienau; and Bill Werner.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Covenant Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
A visitation will be held for Kathleen Louise Lienau on Wednesday, June 24, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm with a vigil service at 7:00pm at McGeehan Funeral Home - Martin Chapel, 316 W. Broad St, Chesaning. A funeral mass will be officiated by Fr. Bob Kelm on Thursday, June 25, at 12:00pm at St. Michael Church, 17994, Lincoln Rd, New Lothrop. Friends are invited to visit with family starting at 11:00am. |
