SHAFFER, Miles N. – of Millington, age 90, died on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Ascension St. Mary’s in Saginaw. Funeral services will be held 3PM Monday, February 7, 2022, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Darrel Manning officiating. Cremation to follow. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 11AM until the time of service at 3PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for future designation.
Miles was born June 16, 1931, in Ionia, Michigan, to the late James and Amy (Miller) Shaffer. He attended Herrick schools. Miles married Shirley in 1950, together they had 4 children before separating. Shirley passed away in 2004. He later married Carla in 1981, together they had 1 child, Carla preceded him in death in 2017. Miles was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and lifetime member of the Davison VFW. He retired from Buick in 1978 with over 25 years of service. Miles enjoyed farming, snowmobiling, woodworking, and crocheting hats and gloves.
Surviving are: Children: Diane Shaffer, Doug (Kay) Shaffer, Denise (Joedee) Shaffer-Mecham, Darwin Shaffer, and Ronald Shaffer; Stepdaughter, Stacy (Don) Clark; 11 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; Sisters: Janice Leonard, Myrna (John) Gillett, Linda Rosenberry, and Beth Davis; Many other loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, family members, and dear friends. The family extends a special thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs, for all their love and care. Miles was also preceded in death by: Grandson, Doug Shaffer II; Granddaughter, Chrystal Ward; Sisters: Fern Skillman, Carmen Kidd, and Bertha Bentley; Brothers: Carl Shaffer, Vernon Shaffer, Richard Shaffer, Ron Shaffer, and Arn Shaffer.
