Jones, Dale Richard, passed away unexpectedly on August 17, 2026, at the age of 70. As his twin sister, he would want me to share that he was born first, with my arrival 15 minutes later, coming as quite a surprise. Our older brother, James L. Jones, who was 11 at the time, was likely horrified to learn that two babies were joining the household instead of one.
In 1988, Dale founded Future Engineering in Flushing, Michigan. Through his hard work and clear goals, he built a very successful business. He sold the company to his employees in 2002, to enjoy retirement, which he filled with township work, law enforcement—a role he truly loved—as well as his passions for traveling and photography.
Dale was predeceased by our parents, Almon B. Jones and Dorene M. Jones-Ferguson; as well as our grandparents; aunts; uncles; and many cousins. While he had no children of his own, he leaves behind his nephews, Jeffrey Jones, Matthew Buxton, and Thomas Buxton; along with their families and extended families.
Jim and I share countless memories of Dale, and as his twin, I feel a connection that is difficult to articulate. We will miss him dearly.
In keeping with Dale's wishes and his love for privacy, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. However, he did concede that we could hold a brief gathering later on—knowing I would likely hold one anyway, he kindly saved me the guilt.
We will gather to informally honor Dale's memory at the Caterer Family Funeral Home (formerly Rossell) on September 30th, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. - 3:30p.m. Please feel free to drop in if you are able to attend.
In lieu of flowers, Dale requested that donations be considered for the Wounded Warrior Project, Disabled American Veterans, or the Puppy Mill Project." |
