Mrs. Velma May Nichols was born September 29, 1933, in Brunswick Missouri. She was the daughter of Hazel Cooper and Chester Cook.
For the past 12 years she resided in the City of Flint MI. She attended Prayer Garden C.O.G.I.C. and was currently a member of Impact Family Church. She was retired, but in her lifetime worked as a waitress. She was a high school graduate and Valedictorian. She definitely was a social butterfly and then some all her life. In her twilight years, she was “feisty”.
Velma May Nichols leaves to cherish her memory: 2 sons; Michael (Christal) Cook, Virginia Beach, VA; Kevin Nichols, Moberly, MO. 6 daughters; Buena V. Nichols-Thomas, Flint, MI; Wilma F. Drummond, Rock Island, IL; Venita D. Nichols, Davenport, IA; Lori Nichols, Columbia, MO; Lisa Nichol and Teresa Nichols both from Chicago, IL. 30 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren. 1 step-sister, Diana Williams, Kansas City, MO. 1 niece, Shirley Stanley, Sterling Heights, MI. A host of other relatives and friends.
Velma May Nichols was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Cooper; father, Chester Cook; step-mother, Mildred Cook. Her husband, Jeff L. Nichols; mother-in-law, Laura Frances Graves; father-in-law, Carl B. Graves. Sisters, Delma and Shirley; sons, Jeff 1, Jeff 2 and John Fitzgerald.
The family would like to express special thanks to GVAA, Dr. Maria Smith and to the immediate family members. Also special thanks to Elder James Johnson, Elder Gerald Wilson, Tamara Jones, Missy Loretta Allen and to the members of Impact Family Church.
