Schmidt, Mary (Luark, Atwell)– of Burt, age 87, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023, at her residence surrounded by family. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at 1PM on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Real Life Church in Montrose – 214 N. Saginaw Rd. In lieu of flowers the family is asking if you would plant a flower or tree in Mary’s memory.
Mary was born June 29, 1935, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Floyd and Ida (Rice) Luark. She attended and graduated from Montrose High school. Mary retired from Genesys after many years. She enjoyed going to Real Life Church with her granddaughter. Mary was an active member in the Montrose Eagles, and the Bunco Bitches. She loved dancing, bunco and gardening. Mary enjoyed her yard work and being outside. More than anything she was a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. She was a saint of a woman who can never be replaced.
Surviving are: Children: Wayne (Tami Raymond) Atwell, Lonnie (Kerrie) Atwell, Peggy (Scott) Schlicht, Terry (Jayne) Atwell, David (Theresa Boggs) Atwell, Tammy (Robert Gregory) Atwell, and Julie (Mike) LaBarge; She was blessed with many grandchildren and several great grandchildren; Brother, Ted (Dolores) Luark; Sister, Gretchen Saunders; Sister-In-Laws: Linda Luark, and Ann Bain; Many wonderful nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her Husbands: Aldowayne Atwell, and Walter Schmidt; Brother, John Luark; Brother-In-Law, Gary Saunders; Sisters: Lillie Schmit, Joann Barbee; Grandson, Alonzo Atwell.
