Charles Laymond Warren, 89, of Linden, Michigan (formerly of Burton) passed away October 23, 2021. Survivors include his lifetime love and companion, Marlene E. (Reichert) Warren. They were married in Royal Oak, MI, on April 21, 1956 and lived in the same home in Burton for 56 years prior to moving to Linden in 2012. He is survived by his daughter Theresa (Michael) Shepard, of Gaines, Michigan, daughter Elizabeth Warren (Rachel Alexander) of Lansing, MI, and daughter Jill (Neil) Rudnitski of Big Lake, MN. He will be missed also by his four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Charles graduated from Bendle High School (Burton, MI) in 1949/50. In 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict and served until 1956. He had over two years of Sea Duty, mainly in the Pacific area including Japan, Korea, Philippines and French Indochina (now Vietnam). Charles joined the US Postal Service in Flint in 1956, working in various positions and locations, and finally retired as Superintendent of Postal Operations in 1987 from the Davison, MI Post Office. Charles and Marlene enjoyed camping and traveling together, and were able to reach his goal of visiting all 50 U.S. states. They enjoyed spending winters in Texas after retirement, playing cards, watching football, but most of all enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion and was an elected officer in his American Legion Post for 48 years. He was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 1pm with visitation beginning at 11am at Brown Funeral Home – 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to VFW Post 3720 or Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Burton, Michigan in memory of Charles. |
