Sue Ann Hughes (Williams), age 71 of Davison passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on August 9, 2022. Sue was born on August 13, 1950 in Flint. She is survived by the love of her life Tim Hughes of Indian River. Beloved mother of Jaina and Craig Brooks and Aimi Moss. World’s best grandma to Tiffani Brooks and Jeremy Blake, Sasha and Chad Lindsey, Andrew and Chelsea Fink, Trishia and Mike Mast, Kylie Moss, Collin Moss and Cyleigh Clifford, Haylie Brooks and David Newport. Loves of her life great-grandchildren Ember and Helene Blake; Grayson, Landon, and Isabelle Lindsey; Everleigh and Teagan Moss; Harper and James Fink; and Phoenix Newport. Sister to Jerry and Paula Williams; Jim and Sally Williams; Sherry Airgood; and Sandy Williams. Many nieces and nephews that she loved very much. Special friends Debbie Hadden and Jackie Roberts; and special “daughter” Jennifer Douglas. Sue was preceded in death by her father Howard Williams and mother Elizabeth Erickson (Williams); brothers Bob Williams and Tom Williams; and sister Mary Sergent.
Sue retired from Genesys Hospital having faithfully served the sick as a critical care nurse where she relentlessly advocated for patients and their rights. For many years, she wrote the “Women’s Corner” column for the Davison Index. An avid runner, her proudest run was the New York City Marathon. Her most memorable trip was to Haiti where she worked side by side a team of medical professionals to administer medical care. Sue was a brilliant self-taught political force and a life-long, die-hard democrat. For many years she organized a hugely successful benefit for the Michigan Heart Association in honor of her dad Howard Williams. Sue was the proud recipient of the Don Riegle Community Service Award. Sue was a faithful Catholic and belonged to St. John in Davison Michigan.
The family expresses their unyielding gratitude to McLaren Hospice nurse Michelle Boehm; aide Michelle Morgan; and social worker Tami Beavers.
Having spent a life of service, her greatest legacy is the undying love that she had for her daughters, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. There simply was none stronger. Her daughters would like to invite all that knew Sue and all that know her family to a celebration and memorial dinner on Saturday August 20, 2022 at 3pm at Dom Polski of Flint 3415 N Linden Road; Flint MI 48504.
