Joseph was born in Flint, Michigan on December 12, 1933, the only child of the late John Antony Nazarko and Mary C. (Fashoway) Nazarko. He was a graduate of Flint Northern High School, where he lettered in tennis all four years. After graduation, Joe attended Flint Junior College until he was drafted into the United States Army, proudly serving his country from 1956-1958. Following his discharge from the military, Joe joined his father, John, developing and building their family business the Maple Leaf Motel in Davison. Mom and dad’s love story began in Davison and three months later took them to Poland to marry. On January 21, 1968, Joe married Jozefa “Josephine” Tesarska in Przemkowa, Poland. Together, Joe and Josephine enjoyed 55 years of marriage and work life. Together they worked tirelessly and provided a wonderful life for their family.
Dad enjoyed classical music, playing the violin from the age of 6. He loved fishing trips Up North with his father, studying road atlases, and road trips through the western U.S and Canada. Dad enjoyed photography and created hundreds of slide shows from his photographs. Dad enjoyed tinkering in the garage and spent countless hours mowing on his tractor and working on his manicured property. He had a passion for flying, logging in many hours as a private pilot, flying his Piper Cub Cessna plane. Joe called the Davison community home for over 70 years and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
The loss of our father and Dziadek has left a tremendous void in our lives and hearts. Dad was a humble, selfless person, who devoted his life to caring for his beloved Jozia. Dad was a loyal son, devoted husband, dedicated father and grandfather who always prioritized his family. We miss you immensely, Dad.
Joseph is deeply missed by his loving wife, Jozefa “Josephine” Nazarko; 2 children, Natalia (Thomas) Schultz and John Nazarko; 5 grandchildren, Gunther and Gabrielle Schultz, Cameron, Shayna and Analise Nazarko; Grand-pup and special friend, Daisy; several cousins, extended family and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Antony and Mary C. Nazarko.
