HALEY, Beth A. – of Birch Run, age 55, died peacefully at home on Monday, May 5, 2025, with family by her side. Honoring her wishes, cremation will be taking place. A Celebration of Beth’s Life will be held at 1PM on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. John Montney officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4PM until 8PM, and on Thursday from 11AM until the time of celebration at 1PM.
Beth was born on September 27, 1969, in Flint, Michigan, to Larry and Janet (Norris) Pruis, as one of identical twins, sharing a special bond with her twin sister. She graduated from Birch Run High School with the Class of 1987. Beth went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching, with a focus in English and Science, from the University of Michigan–Flint in 1993. In 2002, she received her Master of Arts in Teaching from Saginaw Valley State University. Beth dedicated two decades of her life as a teacher at Millington Schools, serving from 1992 until 2012. She also served on the Birch Run School Board from 2002 to 2010, making a meaningful impact on her community. Never one to stay still for long, Beth followed her adventurous spirit to Hawaii, where she lived for several years and taught at Wahiawa Middle School on the beautiful island of O?ahu from 2014 until 2016. In 2017, she returned to the mainland but continued to embrace her love of travel. Beth especially enjoyed visiting national parks with her beloved dog, spending time outdoors, hiking trails, and going on backpacking adventures. Her deep appreciation for nature, travel, and new experiences was a defining part of who she was. In her quiet moments, Beth cherished the simpler things in life, like reading a good book and tending to her garden. Above all, she loved nothing more than spending time with her family, and the moments she shared with them, especially her grandson, Leland.
Surviving are: Son, Jeffrey Haley; Daughter, Alicyn (Andrew) Church; Grandson, Leland Church; Father, Larry Pruis; Twin sister, Jill (Brett) Yatsevich; Siblings: Bonnie (Todd) Carter, and Matthew (Elaine) Pruis; Many loving nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends.
