Born on April 2, 1943 in Roscommon, Michigan to James and Cecelia (Dziadoz) Foster, Eunice lived a life rich in family, creativity, and service to her community. On November 7, 1964, Eunice married Floyd Rytlewski at the Blessed Sacrament in Midland. Their love story was one for the ages, full of deep respect and shared laughter. Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to Durand, Michigan, where they raised their two daughters, Maurie and Christine. This close-knit family expanded to include sons-in-law Dennis Berry and Scott Klco, who Eunice warmly welcomed into the family. She was a loving grandmother to Brittany (Matthew) Kokott, Megan Klco, Lindsey Klco, and Abbigail Klco.

Eunice also shared a special bond with her sister, Marilyn Garrison and her dear friend, Nancy Latoski. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Genevieve, Frank, Aileen, Larry, Willard, John (infant), Lorraine, Warren, and brother-in-law, Glenn Garrison.

Graduating from Beaverton High School, Eunice was a lifelong learner who had a passion for knowledge. Her intellectual curiosity found a perfect outlet in her career as a freelance writer, penning many articles in the local paper that were both persuasive and descriptive; her writings often filled with her thoughts on politics and the world around her. With meticulous research and a keen eye for detail, she wrote informative articles that enlightened and captivated her readers. She was also a dedicated member of the community, supporting local schools and serving as a past PTO President of the Nellie Reed School. She and Floyd were faithful members of St. Mary Catholic Church in Durand since 1968.

Eunice had a zest for life and a passion for many hobbies. She loved to create, whether it was through crocheting, sewing, or quilting, and her hands were rarely idle. Eunice had a green thumb and found great joy in gardening, her garden always bursting with vibrant colors and fragrances. She also had a special place in her heart for birds, whom she raised and even taught to speak phrases, much to the delight of her family and friends.

Eunice was a woman of many talents, but perhaps her greatest was her ability to love and care for others. She was generous with her time, her talents, and her heart. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, and she had a unique ability to make everyone feel loved and valued. Her creativity was boundless, and she used it not just to create beautiful things, but to create beautiful moments for the people around her.

Eunice Maureen Rytlewski packed a lot of living into her 80 years upon this earth and now rests from her labors of love and commitment. It is the family’s desire that you celebrate her life and honor her memory by considering memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research at stjude.org or to Susan G. Komen to support breast cancer research.
