Iris was born on August 26, 1934, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Clifford and Ida (Bonno) McSorley. In 1956, she married Raymond Munn, with whom she shared many joyful years and raised three children before his passing. She later found love again and married Donald Thompson in 1991. Together, they spent 34 wonderful years enjoying rock hunting adventures, cruises, and companionship before his passing in 2024. In her younger years, Iris worked as a carhop on roller skates at A&W, a job she fondly remembered. She retired from General Motors – AC in 1991 after many years of dedicated service. Iris was a member of Faith United Baptist Church in Flint, where she was a devoted choir member. Her powerful soprano voice - the loudest in the choir, was a highlight of many services and specials. She loved watching Law & Order and Forensic Files, and she was an avid reader of murder mysteries - often keeping several books going at once around the house. She cherished time with her family and looked forward to sibling dinners, sharing laughter and stories. Iris preferred hugs over handshakes and had a heart full of love. She was kind, generous, and had a wonderful sense of humor that brought joy to those around her. Iris had a beautiful way of making everyone feel special and deeply cared for. Her warmth, laughter, and loving spirit will be greatly missed.
