BARNETT, Douglas Albert (Chip) - Of Flushing, age 72, died Friday, May 26, 2023 at his residence surrounded by family and friends.
Doug was born in Sturgis, Michigan on February 13, 1951, the son of Willa (Lytle) and Goble Barnett. On April 20, 1974 he married Diane Laurent in Flint, Michigan. Doug worked in the lumber industry for many years and retired in 2016. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving are wife, Diane Barnett of Flushing;
children, Megan (Kyle) Mesack of Rochester Hills and Kate (Ryan) Zvonek of Zeeland;
daughter of the heart Lindsey Sams of South Lyon;
grandchildren, Aaden and Emerson Mesack and Wesley, Tyler and Ethan Zvonek;
siblings, Vicky Hart, Dennis Barnett and Ruby (Ron) Abbs all of Sturgis;
and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
No memorial service is planned.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association.
