LEONARD "ROCKY" N. ROCKWOOD, JR., age 79 of Otisville, passed peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his family, on Friday, August 6, 2021. His funeral service will be held at 11AM on Monday, August 9, 2021 at the Mumford-Hudson Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, August 8, 2021 from 4-7PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Compassus Hospice, 5445 Ali Dr., Suite 600, Grand Blanc, MI 48439. Rocky was born on December 3, 1941 to Vida Mae and Leonard Rockwood, Sr. He graduated from Flint Central High School in 1962. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. Rocky worked for General Motors for 32 years, retiring from the Ontario, OH plant in 1996. He loved to fish, hunt, and spend time outdoors, camping and boating. He enjoyed mornings at the Holloway Reservoir, watching NASCAR, and drinking his beer. On June 27, 1981, Rocky married Judith A. Vroman. Their family consisted of eight children: Leonard III “ Lenny” (Jackie) of Davison, MI, Lynn (Frank) of Presque Isle, MI, Kelly (Kevin) of Indianapolis, IN, Patty (Kevin) of Flushing, MI, Chuck (Kim) of Swartz Creek, MI, Dawn (Herb) of Waverly, OH, Mike (Carrie) of Flushing, MI and Melisa (Eddie) of Flint, MI; 18 grandchildren: Kimmi, Leonard IV, Nikki, Bubba, Tyler, Alison, Madison, Jen, Erika, Petey, Ash, Zach, Brandi, Travis, Phylisity, Jeremy, Brittany, and Jordan; 13 great grandchildren; sisters: Betty (Bob) Kettler and Marilyn (Mike) Bourcier; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Douglas; special uncle,Ray Rockwood; and his beloved dog, Bear. |
