In his nearly 70 years, Charles Henry Lixey knew he didn’t need anything complicated – all he needed was to put his boots on and keep his faith strong. A lover of cowboy movies viewed from the comfort of his recliner, Chuck was happiest when wearing his cowboy boots anywhere and everywhere he went – from the beach to church, where he preached and taught Sunday school.
Born January 12, 1953, his Godly devotion began at a young age and he was proud to complete Bible College and then to share his commitment with others through activities at the church. He was a hard worker throughout his life – from his career at GM until his retirement and later as a Funeral Director Assistant at Hill, Brown, and Reigle Funeral Homes. His strong work ethic became a model for his sons, Daniel, Jeffrey, and Steven. He was a wonderful father and a committed husband to Bonnie. They loved vacationing together and spent many happy hours enjoying their Huron house. He was patient and a good listener and for his sons, an example of how to respect and treat their future wives, whom he loved like the daughters he never had.
As a diehard fan of the University of Michigan, if an old cowboy movie wasn’t on TV, a U of M football game was (Go Blue!). A game enjoyed with Ruffles and French onion dip, after a breakfast of an ice cold Coke (memorabilia for which he also loved to collect), made for a simple but wonderful day. Happiness for Chuck was easily found – he memorably didn’t even need the noodles in his spaghetti or meat on his mustard sandwich for crying out loud! He loved a good pun, spending time with his grandkids, and making himself laugh.
For his family, he was the calm in any storm, and he is loved and missed beyond measure. He departed this life December 9, 2022 and is remembered by his wife Bonnie; his sons Daniel (Tracy), Jeff (Mimi), Steve (Rebecca); grandchildren Jayce, Brianna, Luca, Alexander, Sebastian; brothers Junior and Gary; sister Gail; and extended family and friends. He joins his father Harold and mother Martha (Sisk) Lixey, and brother Vance.
As in the endings of many of his much-loved cowboy movies, his life has reached its sunset, and the hero of the story will be celebrated at 2 PM on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St, Grand Blanc, MI. Chuck's family will receive guests from 12 – 2 PM. Private burial will be held at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint, MI. Condolences may be shared at www.hillfh.com. |
