Ethel Mary Gilbert of Lapeer formerly of Flint age 92, died Friday August 12, 2022 at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 3:00pm Tuesday August 16, 2022 at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel Downtown Davison. Fr. Denis Spitzley officiating. Family will receive visitors from 12:00 noon Tuesday until time of services. Those desiring may make contributions in Ethel’s memory to the charity of your choice. Ethel was born in Jasper Township, Michigan of July 30, 1930 the daughter of the late Roy and Catherine (Maslowsky) Smith and had resided in the Flint area for many years. She later shared her retirement time between Lupton Michigan and Pine Island Florida. She was joined in marriage James Gilbert on October 12, 1950 and he preceded her in death on October 9, 2000. Ethel was a member of Pine Island VFW Auxiliary #4353 and the Pine Island Moose Lodge #8903.
Ethel is survived by her daughter Debra and husband Gilbert Rincon, sons: Tim and wife Linda Gilbert, Tom and Robin Gilbert, and daughter-in-law Maureen Gilbert. She also leaves her twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and a host of extended family. She is preceded in death by son Ron Gilbert, grandson Ryan Gilbert, brothers: William Smith, Tom Smith, Don Smith, Bob Smith, and sister Linda Forest.
