Alan K. Rice MD
Age 91 of Grand Blanc formally from Flint MI Passed away Monday, November 25, 2024.
Alan was born June 24, 1933 in Owosso, the son of Mcfarland and Maude (Joy) Rice.
He graduated from University of Michigan Medical School where he earned his Doctorate Degree. Alan was a lifelong learner and was always researching and learning.
Alan enjoyed puzzles, reading, bird watching, and was a longtime member of the Bay City Yacht Club and sailor. He was great with words and would give you a run for your vocabulary with scrabble which he played live and online. He loved animals and spending time with his cat Nick as well as loved ones. Over the years Alan also had other interests in race walking, a good seafood dinner, black powder rifles, rockhounding as well as traveling around Michigan.
He devoted his career to Ophthalmology and worked in some capacity well into his 80's before retiring.
Alan married H. Robin Rice in Ann Arbor on June 15th 1957. She later predeceased him in 2009.
He is survived by his children Robert Rice, Bethany Rice, Carol Rice, Laura Fletcher Riege, Keith Riege and adored grandsons Richard and Jillian Blades-Rice, Lance Rice and Fiancée Taura Ivanko along with several other loving family and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife Robin, son Charles and parents Mcfarland and Maude Rice also a loving partner in his golden years Lois Hickey.
