Ralph Dake of Montrose, age 95, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, May 27, 2021. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday June 2 at the Montrose United Methodist Church. Pastor Hal Phillips officiating. The service will be broadcast live on the Montrose UMC Facebook page and on the Clarkston United Methodist Church website. Those who attend are encouraged to wear masks. Burial to follow in the Montrose Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose on Tuesday June 1 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm and 10:00 am preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Montrose United Methodist Church.
Ralph was born on the family farm in Montrose. He graduated from Flint Central High School and after high school served in the Third Air Force during the remainder of World War II. Following the war, he returned to Genesee County, married Audrey (Jones) Dake and began to work for E. I. DuPont in Flint. He retired after 37 1/2 years.
Ralph was a life-long member of the Montrose United Methodist Church. He was a certified Lay Speaker and served in many leadership positions. He was also active in American Legion 367 and served as Chaplain of the post. Ralph loved golf, gardening, wood working and serving in the American Legion Color Guard.
He was preceded by his beloved wife Audrey. He was also preceded by his sister Beulah (Lloyd) Short. Surviving: two sons James Dake, and Richard (Laura) Dake; two granddaughters, Emily (Martin) Vogel and Elizabeth (Matt) Wolber; four great grandchildren (Leah and Jasper Vogel, Alaina and Caroline Wolber); niece Theresa Allis and nephew Ron (Mary) Jones.
