ROYER, Ronald Edward - Of Grand Blanc, age 87, died Friday, March 1, 2024 at Brookdale Senior Living.
Per Ron's wishes, cremation has taken place.
Contributions may be directed to Brookdale Memory Care in honor of his wife, Martha.
Ron was born in Flint, Michigan on May 7, 1936, the son of the late James and Eunice Royer. Ron graduated from high school in Round Rock, Texas where he was an avid coronet player in the school band. He served as the Band President and he was honored to be selected to play for the Texas Governor’s Inauguration in 1954. Ron married Martha Sanford in Flint, Michigan on April 11, 1980. He enjoyed golfing, watching Detroit sports, playing croquet, the card game Rook and listening to Big Band music. In his younger years, Ron renewed his faith in God every summer as church attendance was required to play on the church softball team. Ron's true passion was spending time with his family. Ron retired from General Motors SPO on February 1, 1990 after 35 years of service and was a member of UAW Local #659.
Surviving are wife, Martha;
daughters, Susan (Loren) Jackson, Shawn (Matt) Ochs, Michelle (Deric) Holland, and Shellie (Michael) Odren;
grandchildren, Derek (Allie) Fine Jackson, Natalie (Joshua) Allison, Katie (David) Bodary, Tyler Hardin, Cristian (Jocylynn) Hardin, Erica Royer, Sam (Fiancé Gabrielle Ropp) Goldman, Alex Mistretta, Sarah Goldman and Alivia Moore;
great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily, Landon, Arya, Winter, Zachary and Eddie;
brothers, James Royer, John (Jo) Royer and Michael (Dawn) Royer;
sister, Joanne Lynch;
several nephews;
stepsons, Timothy (Martha) Sanford, Mark Sanford and wife, Susan Miller, and James (Rory) Sanford.
He was preceded in death by his former wife and best friend, Maxine Root.
