BRATTON, Kenneth – of Burton, age 66, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Kra-Nur Manor of Burton. A Private Graveside Committal Service with military honors under the auspices of the United States Navy will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital in Ken’s memory.
Ken was born in Flint on February 12, 1960, son of the late Cletis and Ruth (Brunsden) Bratton. He proudly served with the US Navy on the submarine, USS Barbell (SS-580). Ken also served 22 years in the Navy Reserves. He married Maria Dyer on October 20, 1990, in Flint. Ken worked as a chef at the Atlas Valley Country Club for more than 30 years. He considered his “fun job” to be working at Kearsley High School as a “kitchen lady”. In his free time, Ken enjoyed woodworking, working in his vegetable gardens, tending to his roses or watching Star Trek. His greatest joy was found in spending time with his family, especially hosting parties for family and friends.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Maria Bratton; two daughters, Melissa Adamson, Caleigh Bratton; two grandchildren, Riley Adamson, Cayden Adamson; brothers, James (Kim) Bratton, Robert (Christy) Bratton, Tim (Grace) Bratton; a special cousin, Kathy Metar; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cletis and Ruth Bratton; sister-in-law, Charlanne Bratton; nephew, Derek Bratton.
