COLLIE, Rita Jane “Hazel” - Of Swartz Creek and New Port, Richey, FL, age 81, died Thursday, April 21, 2022 at her residence with loving family present.
Funeral service will be held 10am Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Robyn Parker officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Visitation 4-8pm Friday and 9am Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Rita was born in Flint, Michigan on June 3, 1940, the daughter of the late Joseph and Roselin (Matzke) Hazel. Rita was a business woman, intelligent and fearless, a force to be reckoned with. As business savvy as she was, she was also just as caring to everyone she touched. Rita never left a room without making a new friend. She was a true Michigander and that was reflected in her passion for car shows and Buick's. She belonged to the Buick Club of America and showed her 79 Buick LaSabre regularly. Rita was an avid race walker. She competed in numerous 5K races and participated in the Crim for 15 years. She also walked the Susan B. Komen cancer walk, which is 60 miles over 3 days. She was loved by all and will be missed greatly.
Surviving are loving and best friend, Robert Rippe;
grandchildren, David Collie, Christina Collie, Kevin Margiawicz, Ryan (Suzy) Hayes, Conrad (Sherry) Hayes and Shannon Hayes;
siblings, Kendra (James) Metcalf, Patrick (Kaye) Hazel and Ron (Laureen) Hazel;
and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deserie and sister, Roseann.
