Lorrene Kay Johnson, 85, of Attica, passed away on July 23, 2026. Lorrene was the firstborn to Joseph and Freda Brendel on July 31, 1940. She grew up in Shelby Twp. and graduated from Utica High School.
Kay was known to all as “Simply Kay”. She was a gifted seamstress running her own business out of her home called Devilishly Delightful Designs. Kay worked on countless wedding and bridesmaid dresses, as well as any alterations for a dry-cleaning service while in Waterford. Among her many talents was gardening. Kay was a member of the Lapeer Master Gardener Association and earned her title as Master Gardener. Kay was also a proud member of the Lapeer Moose and The Femmes of Lapeer Forty & Eight.
Kay is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Lance E. Johnson; son Mike P. Majestic; step-son Lance H. (Kristin) Johnson; step-daughter Jennifer D. (Robert) Evans; grandchildren Allison Johnson, Madilyn Johnson, Drake Evans, and Lance Evans; brother Joseph (Deb) Brendel Jr.; and many other extended family members. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Freda Brendel; and her sister Louise Ann Brendel.
Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer, MI. A memorial luncheon will take place August 15th at the Imlay City Eagles, 170 S. Almont Ave, Imlay City, MI 48444 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed towards the Lapeer Moose Lodge. Kay will be interred at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. |
