Elaine was born in Flint, Michigan on May 5th, 1928, the daughter of the late Clarence and Mildred (Butts) Hyatt. Elaine graduated from Flint Central High School and then attended business college, leading to a job at Buick. Elaine married her sweetheart Charles J. They enjoyed summer vacations in northern Michigan on Higgins, Burt and Walloon Lake with dear friends and family. The Christmas holiday always meant a family vacation to Sanibel Island Florida.
Elaine loved to travel with her husband Chuck, her daughters, and their families. Her beloved trips with her sisters also held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed reading, gardening, stargazing, bird watching and held a fascination with space and the worlds beyond.
