THORSBY, Bradley Alfred – of Montrose, age 61, died Saturday, October 28, 2023 in Durand, Michigan. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 2, 2023 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Maple Grove Township. Pastor Mike Perez officiating. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose, Michigan. Memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County or Horse Haven.
Bradley was born February 9, 1962 in Saginaw, Michigan to Alfred and Jean (Shook) Thorsby. He grew up in Montrose, Michigan and graduated from Montrose High School with the class of 1980. He graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and a Major in Food Industry Management. On October 21, 1995 he married the love of his life, Lora Hicks in Clio, Michigan. In August of 2000, Brad and Lora were blessed with the light of their lives, daughter Malary. Brad was part of his family business that owned and operated Riverside Market in Montrose, Michigan for 75 years and he owned and operated Riverside Market in Durand for 26 years. He was past president of the Montrose Blueberry Festival and was chosen as Grand Marshall along with his brother Pat in 2023. Brad was a member of the Durand DDA, the Durand Chamber of Commerce, and the Spartan Retail Advisor Board. He was also a member of the Montrose Fraternal Order Eagles Auxiliary #4090. Brad enjoyed golfing, yard work, and fixing anything and everything. He also liked boating, sports, old country music, and singing karaoke. However, his greatest joy in life was giving back to his community and taking care of his family. Even in death, he continued to give back by donating his body to Gift of Life Michigan. All of those that knew Brad loved him for his sense of humor, his commitment to his community, and his kind personality.
Surviving are: wife of 28 years, Lora Thorsby; daughter, Malary Thorsby; mother, Jean Thorsby; Brother, Patrick Thorsby; nieces and nephews, Ava Thorsby, McKenzie Hicks, Mason Hicks, Maxwell Hicks; father and mother in law, Bob (Fran) Hicks; brothers in law, Randall Hicks, Rodney Hicks. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Thorsby; brother, Barry Thorsby; brother in law, Scott Hicks. Please sign our guestbook or share an online condolence with the family |
