William "Bill" Arthur Mervyn, age 90, of Grand Blanc, died Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc. Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters: Connie (Robert) Armstrong, Sandra (Norman) Wahlfors, and Nancy (Gary) Langbein; his nine grandchildren: Jayme, Tracy (Kurt), Angela (Chris), Aaron (Jill), Mark, Michelle (Pat), Megan (Johnny), Amanda, and Michael; his twelve great-grandchildren: Berkley, Charlotte, Kyle, Gavin, Briella, Abram, Lucas, Joey, Ethan, Alex, Mathias, and Mila; his six siblings: Elva Petterson, Bertha Biskey, Margaret Provoast, Edward Mervyn, Pete Mervyn, and Carl Mervyn; and many other extended family members and close friends.
Bill was born June 14, 1930, in Prescott, Michigan, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Percy and Edna (Hall) Mervyn. He was raised primarily in Meeker, Colorado, where he had very fond childhood memories. Bill and Beverly Brown were married on November 7, 1953, and shared 67 wonderful years together. From 1951 until 1953, Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge, Bill returned home to work as a metal shop foreman at Fisher Body for thirty years, retiring in 1980.
Bill was a valued member of the congregation at First Congregational UCC Grand Blanc for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Flint Chevrolet Club, the Free Masons, and the Shriners for many years. Because of his generous spirit, Bill enjoyed helping those less fortunate than himself. He frequently donated his time and handyman skills to Habitat for Humanity. He also donated time acting as a handyman at his church, repairing anything and everything. In his free time, Bill loved woodworking, working in his garden, and working on his 1930 Chevy Coupe and 1964 Corvair. He was a wonderful man who will be missed by many.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Edna; and his brother, Ralph Mervyn.
In accordance with Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place. No public services have been scheduled. An inurnment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date.
