James (Jim) Leroy Morris, a lifelong resident of Holly, Michigan passed away in his home on Thursday June 24th, comforted by his wife at the age of 85.
James is survived by his wife, Wilhelmina "Billie" (Lowe) Morris; his children, Greg (Renae) Morris, Keith (Denise) Morris, Cindy (Ernie) Staffne, Heidi (Marlo) Howieson and Heather (Robert) Holmes. Siblings include Larry (Pam) Tatton, Blanche Barber, and Doris Tatton; his beloved nephew Daryl Losh, amongst many other nieces and nephews. He was a very special grandfather survived by nine grandchildren; Evan, Mallory (Christopher) Raschke, Kerstin, Lindsay (Adam)Meyerdirk, Brent, Kaitlyn, Blake, Zoey, Aubrey and three great grandchildren.
Jim was born in his childhood farmhouse in Davisburg, Michigan on June 20, 1936 to Edna Mae and Mahlon Guy Morris. Jim graduated from Holly High School; he farmed from early adolescence to adulthood until he moved on to work for Flint Road Builders from 1966 until 1998. He married Billie January 24, 1959 and they have been respectfully married for 62 years.
Jim Loved to work in his garden, woodwork behind his house in a small wood shop and camp up north in Tawas where he spoiled his grandchildren during the summer months, for years. His love of sports, especially team Michigan State was undeniable; he never missed a sporting event or dance recital that particularly involved his grandchildren, countless memories were made. James Morris was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all.
Visitation will be on Monday June 28, 2021 at the Dryer Funeral Home from 2-9PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday June 29, 2021 at 1PM at the Dryer Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Carnes officiating. Burial will be in Davisburg Cemetery.
