REDINGER (AVERY), SHERRY LEE JANE – Of Grand Blanc, age 84, died Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Serene Gardens in Grand Blanc, surrounded by family.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Brian Willingham officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Bristol United Methodist Church, 5285 Van Slyke Road, Flint 48507.
Visitation 11 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Sherry was born in Flint, Michigan on August 17, 1938, the daughter of the late Morris and Charlotte (Esch) Avery.
On August 12, 2006 Sherry married Ralph Redinger at Bristol United Methodist Church.
Sherry graduated from Mandeville High School Class of 1956, and was a lifelong member of Bristol United Methodist Church, where she was the choir director, sang and played the piano.
She taught piano for over 20 years and was a member of St. Cecilia Society.
Sherry enjoyed traveling and went on over 30 cruises, camping and enjoyed family time and planning parties for her family and friends.
She began her career after graduating from St. Louis Institute of Music and taught piano. She then became the Assistant to the Director of Hurley School of Nursing.
After retirement Sherry and Ralph spent their winters in Florida where she became a travel guide for many years.
Surviving are husband, Ralph;
3 daughters, Theresa Phelps and fiance’ Mark Conroy of Montrose,
Dalette Miron of Davison and
Tina (Scott) Hall of Mt. Morris;
5 grandchildren, Justin Lackney, Christopher Lackney, Joshua Rathbun, Jacob (Caroline) Rathbun and Nicole (Devin) Soltow;
12 great-grandchildren;
2 sisters, Brenda Bland and Tonya (Don) Chaffin;
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Baby Boy Williams; sons-in-law, Joe “Supersize” Miron and Dan Phelps;
sister, Joy Avery; brother-in-law, Reverend Dwight Bland.
