John Welti Jr, 84, of Lewiston, MI, formerly of Atlanta, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Otsego Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 30, 1926 to John and Martha (Wilhelmina) Welti in Temperance, MI. He married the former Marilyn Hoppert on August 18, 1962 in Monroe, MI. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lewiston. John owned and operated a farm in Temperance, MI for many years before retiring to northern Michigan. He was a member of the Rotary Club in Temperance. He enjoyed spending his winters in Webster, FL with his wife, and was an avid deer hunter.
John is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Lewiston, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Caroline Eschelbach; and two brothers, Richard and David Welti.
As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lewiston, Pastor Steven Thiel officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at Albert Twp Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Green Funeral Home. Condolence messages can be sent via our website, www.greenfuneralhomes.com
