NAVARRE, Shawn Lee – of Flint, MI, age 48, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Friday, March 1, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors 5-8 PM Thursday, February 29, 2024 and 12-1 PM Friday, March 1, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County or to the American Diabetes Association, in memory of Shawn.
Shawn was born in Flint, MI on September 3, 1975, son of the late Dennis Knapp Sr. and Sandra (Mathers) Holbrook. He was a proud graduate of Carman Ainsworth High School and continued his pursuit of knowledge at Mott Community College. Professionally, Shawn dedicated his time and skills to Wings and Wheels Delivery. His work history also included valuable contributions at Rite-Aid in Flint, H-Care Medical Equipment, and Aladdin's Castle Arcade in Flint Township, showcasing his diverse talents and strong work ethic. Beyond his professional life, Shawn was a passionate soul with a wide range of interests. His artistic spirit flourished through his love for drawing, capturing the essence of beauty with every stroke. An avid fisherman, Shawn found solace by the water, casting lines and creating memories that will be treasured forever. Shawn's enthusiasm for cars, guitars, and music concerts added a vibrant melody to his life. Whether immersed in the roar of an engine, the strumming of strings, or the beat of his favorite tunes, he found joy in the simple pleasures that made life extraordinary. A true fan of creativity and imagination, Shawn delighted in attending Comic Con events, where he could immerse himself in the fantastical worlds that brought him joy. His contagious passion for these gatherings created lasting bonds with fellow enthusiasts and added a layer of magic to his life. Above all, Shawn had a special place in his heart for animals, embodying a compassion that endeared him to furry friends. His beloved pets were more than companions—they were cherished members of his family. In honoring Shawn's memory, let us celebrate the vibrant and multifaceted life he lived. May the echoes of his laughter, the warmth of his spirit, and the beauty of his creations remain etched in our hearts.
Shawn is survived by siblings, Dennis Knapp Jr., Stacey (Mike) Lanctot, Kimberly Navarre, John Knapp and Shanette Kidd; special nephews, Joshua, Jesse and Johnny; special nieces, Madison and Aubrey; great-nephew, Levi; great-niece, Reighlyn; canine companion, Dallas; feline companion, Roo; tortoise, Mortimer; uncles, Rick (Nancy) Mathers and Aubrey Mathers; aunt, Dianne (Terry) Ensign; many other nieces, nephews, loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Knapp Sr.; mother, Sandra Holbrook; aunt, Rhonda Wiykovics; grandparents, Aubrey and Lavina Mathers and Norm and Wilna Perry; beloved canine companions, Nikka and Magnum.
