William “Bill” McKay, of Flushing, Michigan, age 94, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023. Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2023, at Flushing United Methodist Church. Pastor JD Landis will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Flushing United Methodist Church.
Bill was born in Ovid, Michigan on July 27, 1928, to Andrew and Zella (Bonsor) McKay. He married Dorothy Kehler on April 28, 1951, and she preceded him in death in 2019. Bill attended General Motors Institute (GMI) and worked as an engineer designer for both General Motors and independently. He was an avid fan of all Michigan sports. He loved the desert and would snowbird annually to Arizona where he enjoyed going on hikes. Some of his favorite activities were puzzles, bowling, and playing shuffleboard both in Michigan and Arizona. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Mark (Karen Haldenwanger) McKay, Rick McKay, Kirk (Andrea) McKay, and Kevin (Rob Moen) McKay; grandchildren, Eric (Libby), Krystal (Jeb), Kelly, Emily (Chris), and Cassie (Blake); 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Dave (Sara) McKay, Dick (Pauline) McKay, and Dorothy McMillan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy McKay; siblings, Roger McKay and Jean Gould; and his parents. |
