Erna M. Coxworth, of Gaines, Michigan, formerly of Flushing, died at home surrounded by her family on March 5, 2021 after a long battle with breast cancer. Private services to take place. The funeral service will be live streamed at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 10 and can be viewed on the Rossell Funeral Home Facebook page. Rev. Max Hayden will officiate with burial to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
Erna was born in Danzig, Germany on June 21, 1923 to Nikifar and Emilie (Block) Falewitch. She married Walter Morris Coxworth at Parkland Presbyterian Church in Flint, Michigan on June 17, 1944 and was the proud wife of a WWII Army Veteran. She loved her family and enjoyed researching their history through her senior center. Erna was a member of the Americana Antique Club for over 50 years and gave back to her community by serving as an Election Official in Flushing many times. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at Elmcrest Village and Flushing Presbyterian Church. Her memory will be cherished by her family and friends.
Erna is survived by her children, Kathleen (John) Miller and Bruce (Deborah) Coxworth; grandchildren, Anya (RC) Coxworth-Herrington, Kendra Lahti, DarisCoxworth, John (Deborah) Miller, Lynn (Matt) Jamison, and Laura Miller and Brian Schnering, Lindsay Swingler, Kelli (Adam) Hower, Bradley Coxworth, Brooke (Roger) Bartos, Jason (Angie) Smith; great-grandchildren; Mikayla Kite, Kirklynn Kite, Senha (Coxworth) Chapman, Niklas Miller, Olivia Miller, Kelan Jamison, Kaiya Jamison, David Swingler, Wyatt Hower, Isaac Hower, and Avery Bartos; siblings, Grace Berry, Anne Falewitch, and Jeane Portner; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Coxworth; children, Douglas Coxworth and Martha Coxworth; brothers, Alfred Falewitch and James Falewitch; twin sister, Christine and sister, Carol.
