THORNBURG, James Dale – of Montrose, age 85, died Thursday, May 27, 2021 at his residence. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio, Michigan. Pastor Shane Miller officiating. Burial in Montrose Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Montrose Baptist Church.
James was born December 13, 1935 in Chuckey, Tennessee to the late William and Lillie (Mathis) Thornburg. He grew up in Chuckey, Tennessee and graduated from Chuckey High School with the class of 1953. On November 25, 1955 he married Constance Haines in Angola, Indiana. Prior to his retirement in 1985, James worked for Buick-GM as a line worker in the tire department with 32 years of service. He attended the Montrose Baptist Church. James enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing guitar, singing and working in his garden.
Surviving are: Wife of 65 years, Constance; Children, Wesley (Josephine) Thornburg, William (Sandra) Thornburg, Jeffery (Diane) Thornburg, Cathy (Dick) Bassett; 13 Grandchildren; 15 Great-Grandchildren; Siblings, Yvonne Tipton, Patsy Cox, Donna (Buddy) Cutshaw; Brother in law, Robert (Elsa) Haines; several nieces and nephews.
